SearchOhio, OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan

SearchOhio and OhioLINK borrowing has been restored!

  • SearchOhio requests may be placed via links in the new Aspen Discovery catalog.
  • Please search our Aspen catalog for materials first, then follow the links to SearchOhio for titles not owned by WPPL.
  • Continue your search in OhioLINK from the SearchOhio catalog or go to the OhioLINK catalog directly from our catalog menu.

Interlibrary loan requests can be made for items that are not available from either WPPL or SearchOhio.

SearchOhio and OhioLINK give Westlake Porter Public Library cardholders access to materials from almost 30 public library systems and over 90 colleges and universities across the state of Ohio. The easiest way to access all this content is to continue your search in SearchOhio from our catalog. Items available at WPPL cannot be requested through SearchOhio or OhioLINK. 

SearchOhio 

SearchOhio makes over 16 million items available to the communities served by library systems around Ohio. The SearchOhio Catalog allows direct, online requesting for residents of Ohio and delivery of books and other library media within a matter of days.  

  • Loan period is 21 days for printed items, audiobooks and music and seven days for movies. Some exclusions apply.
  • All items may be eligible for up to three renewals. Items can be renewed online or by calling 440-871-2600 after the due date.
  • A replacement fee of $25.00 will be billed for any item that is more than three weeks overdue.
  • SearchOhio items count toward your overall checkout limit, which for most patrons is 75.

OhioLINK

SearchOhio is a partner with the OhioLINK system, which serves academic libraries. SearchOhio's partnership with OhioLINK means that you can get items under different terms, depending on the lender. Please note the differences in renewals, fines, fees, and item limits between items that are lent by a SearchOhio member and those lent by an OhioLINK member.

  • Loan period is 21 days for printed items and seven days for audiovisual items. Some exclusions apply. Books are eligible for up to six renewals and media for three; you must call WPPL to renew. 
  • Replacement fee is $125.00 per item for any item not returned within three weeks of the due date. 
  • OhioLINK loans are limited to 25 of any combination of SearchOhio or OhioLINK items. (A person with 25 SearchOhio and/or OhioLINK items showing on their account cannot request any further OhioLINK items, but a person with 25 SearchOhio and/or OhioLINK items can get up to 50 more SearchOhio items on their account.)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) 

Materials that can’t be borrowed through SearchOhio or OhioLINK may still be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

Contact Adult Services to request books and other material through WorldCat. Reasonable attempts are made to borrow materials in this way but not all requests are able to be filled.
