A seat on the Porter Public Library Board of Trustees will be open as of December 31, 2019.
Trustees represent the community at large and their varied library interests. The only prerequisite for applicants is that they have an interest in public library issues and wish to become a public library advocate. The Board, the policy-making body of the library, is composed of seven members who serve overlapping seven-year terms.
Those interested in applying for a position as a trustee may download an application form here, pick one up at the reception desk, or contact the library’s Administration Department. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to fill out the application form on your computer.
Application deadline is September 14, 2019.
The library’s service jurisdiction is Westlake school district. The public library is a separate political subdivision, apart from the City of Westlake and the Westlake City Schools, with an autonomous Board of Trustees. However, since Westlake Porter Public Library is a school district library, trustees are appointed by the Westlake Board of Education.
Library board meetings are held monthly, usually the third Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 pm. These meetings are open to the public and agendas are posted in the library in advance of the meetings.
For more details on responsibilities of trustees or on the application process, please contact library Director Andrew Mangels.
